Vision
Small towns can have a reputation for being closed off and even judgemental towards newcomers. Since the pandemic, there has been a huge influx of people to Amherst including people from other parts of Canada and around the world. As we have been preparing for our ESL Course (English as a Second Language) I have heard from so many people in our church about how excited they are to see this course happening for those who are new to our community! Our Church is excited for new people to be in our community and our church! I met last Sunday with our First Impressions Team, the volunteers who greet you at the front doors each Sunday. One of the things they said, as they reflected on their ministry, was that they loved showing others that they are wanted! People are welcome here, and what that really means for us is that they are wanted. We want you here. We want you in our lives. We want you in our church. We want you in our community. We have a youth rally coming up. Please be praying that the teens will feel wanted. We have some opportunities coming up to partner with a daycare again, and it feels like another chance to show our community that they are wanted. This isn't about affirming whatever people do, or condoning their lifestyles. It is about having the heart of Christ who wanted us so much that while we were still sinners, came and died for us. I see that same desire growing in your hearts already. Please be praying that our community feels it, that we do it in the right way, and that people surrender to the God who wants them! |
Wins
1. One ministry leader couldn't contain her excitement this week after seeing the Spirit begin stirring in the ministry. She messaged me right after the gathering and had to tell me about it! 2. Six of our men attended the XY Conference in Moncton last weekend and saw God stir something new inside them! 3. We have a number of projects to work on at the church to improve our facility and create new opportunities, and our volunteers are jumping on the tasks with passion! I mean, you should go check out the changes to our kitchen already! |
Don't Forget Why You're HereFrom Now On... - Sunday, April 14, 2024 Life is busy and there are lots of things trying to get our attention. It is easy to get distracted, but it is also easy to simply start thinking that we are here for our own pleasure and benefit. We forget that we are here to take care of each other and we are here to fight for the lost. When we start living like that, we end up doing huge amounts of damage to others and to ourselves. Actually, when we start living like that, we can end up in a worse situation than the lost. When you stop fighting for the lost, you get lost.
