Vision
As I met with our LBA and Department Leaders a couple of weeks ago One of the things we talked about was how we don't do ministry simply to get things done. We do ministry to get other people doing ministry! It can be so easy to look at our to-do list and in frustration with other people or in a state of overwhelmed anxiety, just start working like mad to get the list smaller. What we should be doing though is investing in other people while we set them on the mission of accomplishing those tasks. It can actually be better to invest in someone else, who won't do the job as well as us, and let them do it anyway. This isn't about getting others to serve us, or handing off work to others because we don't want to do it. I'm talking about working with others so they grow and are able to find ways to make a difference in our world for the Kingdom of God. This is often more work than just doing it ourselves. That's the mission though. We are disciples making disciples. We are down-to-earth people following Jesus in ways that help other down-to-earth people follow Jesus. Wins
1. Youth ministry had someone willing to change their job so they could volunteer! Whoa! 2. One of our volunteers shared that someone they are connected with in ministry finally surrendered all the junk in their life to Jesus, and have already started to see changes! 3. God is stirring a heart of service and passion for our mission in our people, and we are seeing it as they are coming on their own initiative to ask how they can serve! |
An Enemy on the ProwlCan I Go Home Now? - Sunday, February 4, 2024 It is easy to get distracted by life, good and bad. Sometimes we focus so much on some things that we leave ourselves open to attack somewhere else. Other times we feel so confident it actually makes us arrogant and open to attack. Peter gives the church a hard warning, pointing out that the enemy is still out there, and even though we have the victory in Christ, the enemy is still on the prowl. We're not out of the woods yet. 1 Peter 5
