Vision
Most of you, I think, know what Small Groups are. But, the name doesn't really describe it well, does it? Yes, it is a small group of people, but it doesn't describe it beyond that. Small Groups are intended to be both a kind of Bible Study time and Fellowship time. They are supposed to be groups that set aside time every week to learn about God, walk through their spiritual journey, support one another, pray together, and build valuable friendships. They should be helping attendees understand God's Word, and follow Jesus in down-to-earth ways. Ideally, everyone who calls AWC their home would be part of one of these groups. Practically speaking, Small Groups and Volunteering are two of the best ways to help anyone become more like Jesus. Wins
1. We have shared about how often God's timing with our sermons is miraculous, well this past Sunday was one of the most remarkable situations I have ever seen. It was the right message for the right day, and what's even more amazing, is that it got switched a couple of weeks ago because Pastor Brad got sick. God is absolutely at work! 2. We held our annual Vision Retreat with staff, board members, and our leadership team last weekend, and the atmosphere was energetic, honest, bold, and the community between these individuals was just humming! I think everyone left excited about what God is doing at AWC! 3. I am hearing that many of our small groups have started meeting, and I have noticed in the men's group just how the attitude of the members almost instantly increased the excitement and momentum of the group! |
What's Your Identity Based On?What's Your Foundation? - Sunday, January 28, 2024 Post-modern philosophy is primarily based on the idea that the human individual is the only certain reality, thus it is the basis for truth and identity. Our culture has been formed by this way of thinking, mistrusting every institution, leader, and study that contradicts one's personal ideas. The big problem with that though is that the individual person is constantly changing and rarely is able to handle pressure. We shift like the sand. How can truth be discovered when it is constantly shifting? There must be something more stable! We are not stable enough to form our own identity. John 15
