Visionby Pastor Brad Maybe you’re like me. Someone who puts strategy before prayer. You seem to have the answers yourself so you put the plan together, you get the task list done, you see good results and think, “Hey I did it and I didn’t even need to pray.” We can’t settle for less than what God can do through prayer. Let me share with you how God has been shaping my prayer life. In early September, we were talking about spiritual warfare at Youth Group. As we engaged in the topic, we saw spiritual warfare manifest itself; teens were experiencing conflict, volunteers were feeling embattled, and some teens were experiencing things at school and home that were weighing heavily on their soul. I thought all the strategizing would fix this. I had the lesson planned, the game picked, practiced the worship songs, and drank so much coffee. None of that changed anything. Then, God made it clear that I needed to be invested in prayer. Each Thursday, I began praying for our youth ministry with Evan, Emma, and Austin after our staff meeting. Then we started seeing the fruit. Our Truro group grew, 3 teens got baptized in Amherst, we gained some new teens, and several teens have begun engaging in prayer and bible reading. God does more when we let Him; when we pray and ask for the miracle and the breakthrough. The lesson God gave me was, “Put prayer before your plans.” As we gear up for this weekend and the remainder of the Fall season there are several things we need you praying for:

Wins
Amherst Wesleyan: 1. 19 High School teens have registered for Encounter Weekend at Kingswood University! 2. Pumpkin Crawl plans and teams are well organized and ready to go! 3. Solid meeting with some of our Kids Ministry leaders and we are getting more people involved! 5. Men's small group is going really strong - getting guys out that don’t normally get out! Connection Church: 1. 9 signups (so far) for Trunk or Treat! And good engagement from public posts for those who will come with their kids. 2. Connect Groups have been so amazing! People have really been challenged and are growing closer to one another and to God. And, tracking prayer requests has been so impactful as we see God faithfully answering and providing. 3. We are getting calls and being prayed for from congregants as far away as North Carolina! Gerald MacKinnon and his wife Kaye, both 97, still call/pray/give to Connection – even though they haven’t been here in years. Their 80th wedding anniversary is coming up on December 3rd! 4. People are engaging with the Bible App/Audio Bible; getting into the Word in a way that works for them. |

Pumpkin CrawlSaturday, October 31, 2026 We're doing something new this Oct 31st!
Still Free. Still Family Friendly. More Activities! More Fun! More Pumpkins!
After about 10 years of doing Trunk-or-Treat we are doing something new. The Pumpkin Crawl brings more of a carnival feel than a line-up for candy. Families won't need to stand in a massive line this year, instead they can wander from activity to activity, take in a special skit and presentation indoors, listen to the live band, check out all the decorated and carved pumpkins and get a few treats too. Costumes are welcome, but not required!
There is something really special about pumpkins in October, other than the fact they make incredible pie, and cookies, and lattes, and cheesecake! Every year we dig out the nasty goo inside them and replace it with light that cuts through the darkness. That's what we want to do with The Pumpkin Crawl! When the world seems to be getting darker and more negative, we want to spread some light!
All are welcome at our first ever Pumpkin Crawl, Saturday Oct 31st, 2-4pm!
