Vision

I know we are still more than a month away from the event, and there are lots of things going on in the meantime, but I want to make sure everyone has lots of time to prepare for a change we are making this October.

For the past 10ish years we have done Trunk-or-Treat at the end of October. This had many positive results and was one of the key events we did that built our reputation in Amherst for being a church that cares about their community.

And now I think it is time to change it. Through the process of many conversations, some wise insight and honest feedback from different leaders and members of our church, along with my own reflections, it became clear that we could do something that had greater impact than just giving out candy. To maybe oversimplify it, kids are going to get candy from every house they visit but they need us to give them the Light of the World.

That's why this year instead of doing Trunk-or-Treat we will be doing The Pumpkin Crawl!

There will be more details shared in the coming weeks, but we are hoping that you would join in this event to share the Light of Jesus with the world on what can be one of its darkest nights. We will be looking for people to create and/or run small activity booths, help with setup and teardown, be part of a Gospel skit presentation, and help create dozens of carved pumpkins that share light instead of darkness.

We still want this to be a fun time for families and a blessing to them. We just want to make sure the blessing we are giving them fills a cavity instead of just giving them another one.

Amherst Wesleyan:

1. People are starting to sign up for Small Groups!

2. As we roll out some new tech with Kids Ministry we are seeing our leaders embrace it and solve problems all on their own!

Connection Church:

1. The roofers came back to fix an issue with the roof replacement.

2. Emma was amazed by the kindess everyone showed her when she was sick!

3. Leaders are embracing the mission and authority they carry to do ministry and they are on a roll!
