The Spirit is Moving!by Pastor Emma This past Sunday evening, we had a young adults worship & social night here at Connection. I cannot even begin to describe the sense of the Holy Spirit in the room - it was so powerful! Not only did a group of young adults travel down from Tidal Church in Moncton to lead us in worship and prayer, but there were at least seven churches (that I’m aware of) represented in the room! The Lord has been building unity among the churches here in Truro, and beyond. Praise Him! He is so good! This is a glimpse of the way He is bringing His people together in order to see the Kingdom spread. Not only did we have an impactful time of worship in song, but we saw prayer organically fill the room. People began praying with others, going up to the altars in surrender, and gathering in small groups to pray specifically over people. Not only were words spoken over our town and building in the name of Jesus, but specific words were given to me and others about breakthrough and growth that the Spirit has in store. There were also two young men from other churches here in Truro who experienced physical healing through the power of Jesus in prayer. I was speechless when I heard this! I am still blown away by the way the Lord came to meet us during our time together. One of the guys from Moncton was saying that he had been in some other spaces in the last month where there have been salvations and healing. He said this, “You know, sometimes we think that God won’t use us as vessels for others to experience healing, but I’ve been learning that if the Lord is gonna heal, He’s gonna heal - nothing can stop it or change it.” This has been on my heart all week, as I reflect on the implications of that statement. Sometimes, we see movements of the Spirit break out, and I don’t think there is any specific formula we can find that will cause Him to move in any sort of way. Oftentimes, these encounters and gatherings are not repeatable or predictable. But one thing is true for sure: when we humbly seek for God, we will find Him. I was in a cohort call with eight other young pastors around Atlantic Canada yesterday, and someone wisely said, “prayer is an act of humility”. Choosing to get low before God, and humbling ourselves before the Creator and Sustainer shows our need for Him, is the first and foremost piece of engaging with Him, and from that, we can have eyes to see how He is moving. The Spirit comes where He’s invited and welcomed. What a blessing it was to get a taste of what heaven will look like - worship, freedom, and healing in unity with the Body of Christ. And I know there is more to come! May we all continue seeking Him - privately, corporately, and always. --------------------- “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” ~Jeremiah 29:13 NIV “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” ~Matthew 7:7-8 NIV “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.” ~2 Chronicles 7:14-16 NIV |
Wins
Amherst Wesleyan: 1. We had excellent Board and Leadership Team meetings on Sunday, with our leaders showing incredible wisdom around hard decisions, asking hard questions and showing great courage for the future! 2. Between time in prayer, conversations with leaders, and feedback from people in our church I have a growing sense that God is stirring in our church to do some things differently so we can make deeper and wider impacts in our community. Connection Church: 1. Pastor Sheryl shared her final official sermon as a resident of Truro! Her service and care at Connection has been instrumental in where we are headed next! 2. There seems to be a growing openness to community, connection and conversation, which is really a growing interest in being discipled! |
