Healthy Things Growby Pastor Evan One thing I have been saying to people over the past few weeks is that our priority needs to be beocming healthy because healthy things naturally grow.
It is very easy to get caught up in the idea that we need to build the church bigger, get more people here, increase our finances and get more volunteers, and we need to do that right now. There is the idea that in order to grow we need to get more people here working. There is the idea that success is about getting our numbers up. But all that puts the cart before the horse.
You don't just add leaves to a plant and call it growth.
You don't just put legs on a tadpole and call it growth.
The plant needs to have the right conditions to be healthy, and then it naturally produces more leaves.
The tadpole needs to be healthy so it can survive the transitions to grow.
The church doesn't need more money and more people to grow. It needs to be healthy so it naturally reaches more people.
We need to work on making our church healthier, and we can't get distracted from that.
We need pastors and leaders who are becoming more and more like Jesus.
We need people who are learning to hear the voice of God.
We need to be seeking God in prayer because we want more of Him.
We need to be sharing our faith with others because we can't contain it.
We need to be surrendering our families, jobs, hobbies, and dreams to Jesus because He is The King.
Let's focus on making our church healthy, and we will see it grow.

Wins
Amherst Wesleyan: 1. We had 12 teens attend their final Alpha meeting. 2. It was incredible being in service on Sunday and hearing the room booming with the voices of the people singing together. It wasn't a show, it wasn't performance, it was just a room filled with people singing out to God togther! Connection Church: 1. As we look ahead and implement some new things in the church, people are asking questions and sharing their thoughts with us. That’s what it is to “go together”! It's this kind of honesty and connection that makes things better and builds real trust. 2. It is so encouraging to have a church that is eager to pray together and honour each other, especially in hard times. |
