Vision
Two things: 1. I had a board meeting last Sunday and a couple board members shared that someone from our congregation had reached out to them with a concern. I have to say, I am so glad that this person (or persons) felt they could reach out to our board members with their questions and concerns. I also have to say, I am so glad our board members felt they could bring the concerns to the board meeting! We aren't a church that leans into gossip, we are a church that leans into honest conversation! 2. Many of you may know this, but in case you haven't heard, we are ending our formal partnership with the Westchester Wesleyan Church at the end of June. That means we will no longer be responsible for their services after June. Doesn't affect AWC much, but I wanted to keep you all in the loop. |
Wins
1. A Non-Christian student from EDGE received a Bible a few weeks ago but was resistant towards receiving one; this past Sunday they remembered to bring it with them and even volunteered to read some of the verses during small group time! 2. Both teens and adults are taking the initiative to reach out to find ways to serve at AWC! 3. Two kids got dedicated on Sunday! 4. We are finding over and over again how God has ordained the timing of our sermons. These sermons get scheduled, and many drafted months before they get preached, and time after time they seem to be scheduled for exactly the right Sunday. |
Family BaggageGetting Past Your Past - Sunday, March 19, 2023 We all have families and every one of them has left us with some sort of baggage. Some of that baggage is pretty heavy, and at times pretty harmful. Things like neglect, depression, abandonment, condemnation, or unresolved conflict are some of the heaviest things, but there are some basic patterns that get passed down too that can weigh on us too. Regardless of what we have experienced in our families, God has made a way to get past it, and live so it doesn't weight us down. Hebrews 12:1-3 Family baggage can't hurt us if we stop carrying it.
