The Big Give is coming right up! It is one week away!

We will be accepting donations for The Big Give this week, and we will need many volunteers to help us sort everything. We will also need lots of volunteers here on Saturday June 7th as we give things away and connect with our community.

This event isn't just about distributing goods, it is about being an example of radical generosity for our community and to create opportunities for us to show the people around us just how much God loves them. His love is extravagant. This is a moment to help them understand that they matter to us.

I hope you will be part of this special event.

1. A person in our church has been working to organize a couple events to raise support for those who are suffering from food insecurity, and they managed to lead the charge that raised over $24 000 for food for those in need! This wasn't a "church" event, but when the people of Jesus do things like this you can be sure that He is part of it!

2. Another person in our church came across a person on the street who was suffering with drug addiction, and she was able to share with him how much Jesus loves him, she stood and cried with him, got him a bottle of water, and listened to him. She wasn't just doing a nice thing. It was a scary thing.  She was being a physical expression of Jesus to this man. Afterwards she started to understand the pain and sorrow God feels for the lost. 

3. In case you didn't hear, I have accepted the position of Lead Pastor for Connection Church (the Truro Wesleyan Church) and will be leading both Amherst and Truro churches starting this Summer! This is both exciting and scary. 

We go through life with hopes, dreams, and goals of accomplishment. Sometimes though, those don't materialize and we're left thinking, why should I even bother? In the book of 1 & 2 Samuel, we discover that Jonathan; Saul's son, was faithful to God in spite of the fact that he recieved no earthly rewards and when all was said and done, Jonathan dies in battle. Later on, Jonathan's son Methpiboseth, is rewarded by David because of Jonathan's faithfulness. When we follow Jesus, we might not recieve earthly blessings, but our faithfulness may lead to blessings for others after us.

Konnect the Tots is a playgroup for parents and kids that takes place every Thursday from 9:30-11:30 at Amherst Wesleyan Church (6 Maltby Ct). There are toys and activities set up in the basement of the church for kids to play with! Everyone is welcome! (Enter through the parking lot side door!)
