Daily Filling of the Holy Spirit
Last week, Pastor Brad & I had the opportunity to take part in a retreat for pastors hosted at Kingswood University in Sussex. Jay & Sharon Guptill led this retreat, and it was a great time of refreshing. One of the illustrations they used to explain resilience was three basketballs: one was pumped up fully, the other about half, and one with very little air in it. As you can imagine, the first one bounced back well, the second took a bit more effort but would bounce back some… the third, however, did not bounce at all, but flopped on the floor. This can represent our lives: sometimes, we are feeling full and strong, so when difficult times come, we can bounce back and be resilient. Other times, we don’t have as much air, leaving us feeling deflated in the face of difficulties. What it comes down to is this: the Holy Spirit dwells in us, and longs to fill us each day with the air of His love, His new mercies, His strength, and His grace. When we don’t sit to rest - or abide - in the Spirit, we are left with little air in the basketball that is our souls. Maybe we try to find other ways to fill ourselves up… but ultimately, only the Lord can do it. He is the one who gives us the ability to bounce back, no matter the circumstances. How are you intentionally creating space to sit with God this week? Have you been giving Him the time and space He needs to fill your soul? Be encouraged: each day is a fresh start to try again. He is waiting for you. He is calling you deeper. Jesus longs for us to sit with Him, allowing Him to minister to our hearts. Consider looking at the many types of spiritual disciplines, which remind us of the many ways we can connect with God. Be sure to prioritize time with Him this week, so you can be filled up and able to bounce back! - Pastor Emma
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~ Matthew 11:28-30 NIV “Jesus isn’t asking you to do something you’re not already doing. All of us are abiding. The question isn’t, Are you abiding? It’s, What are you abiding in?” ~ John Mark Comer |
Wins
Amherst Wesleyan: 1. Volunteers are coming up to us asking if they can help with more things, and new people are approaching us asking how they can get involved! 2. The mortgage is paid off! Connection Church: 1. We asked you to invite your friends, family and neighbours out to church on Sunday, and you did it! You took the step of faithfulness and risk! That's the kind of stuff that sets a church up for incredible things! 2. Not only did you invite people to come out, but people actually came! Just like your obedience is a sign of good things to come for Connection, when people accept the invitation to join us it is a sign of God working in our community for good things! |

Media Junk FoodJunk Food - Sunday, February 1, 2026 Junk food is full of calories but doesn't provide the quality building materials your body needs to heal and grow. The same is true for media content that we consume that is junk; it fills up our minds and hearts, but doesn't actually give us what we need to heal and be healthy mentally, emotionally or spiritually. Jesus is different though. John 4:13 Junk food fills you up and leaves you empty. For more infomation visit:
