As we start to collect candy and donations for our annual Trunk-or-Treat there may be some questions about why we are participating in Halloween. Well, the biggest thing for me is that I am not willing to allow the enemy to lay claim to any day of the year. Oct 31st is a day that God has made and I will not surrender it to darkness. Trunk-or-Treat, for me, is not about participating in Halloween, it is about reclaiming it and using the schemes of the enemy to backfire against him and reach people with love and the work of Jesus. If we hide on October 31st, we won't rescue anyone. But maybe, just maybe, we can reach someone we would never have otherwise been able to reach by doing Trunk-or-Treat. I have no interest in glorifying evil, but I am very committed to saving people.

1.  AWC - It was great having a couple of our Global Partners with us this Sunday and again on Tuesday, which went so well in large measure due to the great leadership of Tena F. who is driving a renewed passion with our Missions Department!

2.  Connection - Pastor Emma is already prepping for ministry in Truro and has been working on new ideas and solutions to some of the complications we face, even though she doesn't technically start with us until the end of the month!

3. AWC - I had an excellent meeting with our Small Group Leaders last night, and took time to hear from our Community Care Team on how we can help our small group members live out a community of care with each other!

4. Connection - Last week someone had a concern about something at Connection and they didn't resort to gossip but instead reached out to me directly to share their concern and find a solution! What a privelege it is to help the people of God navigate concerns, conflict and questions when they do it from a heart of honour!

On Sunday October 5th we will be holding our annual Baptism Sunday which is an incredible time to get baptized!

If you are interested in getting baptized, or would like to know more about what it is or why it matters, you can talk to Pastor Evan or Pastor Brad or even reply to this email!

Join us as we develop the practice of prayer.

Learn how to hear God better.

Learn how to pray more effectively.

Spend time in silence, at the altar, or with a group praying.

Special focus will be given on the last Tuesday of each month to Missions and our Global Partners.

Come learn English and about life in Canada. This is open to everyone. Participants may be asked to cover the cost of workbooks, but if for some reason you are unable to cover that cost, you can still participate. We want to make this course available to everyone regardless of their economic situation.

Open to all who are interested. Discover practical leadership principles to apply to your context. Free coffee and snacks provided!

Join us as the Church comes together as ONE with other congregations from across our region in prayer for 12 uninterrupted hours.

A night of worship. Songs, Prayer, and creative elements will be used to set aside time to simply focus on God and give Him glory.

Join us at the West Highlands Elementary Gymnasium for games and lessons designed to help kids grow in their confidence and character development.

We will be starting to collect candy and looking for volunteers for this year's Trunk or Treat happening on Oct 25th!

Konnect the Tots is a playgroup for parents and kids that takes place every Thursday from 9:30-11:30 at Amherst Wesleyan Church (6 Maltby Ct). There are toys and activities set up in the basement of the church for kids to play with! Everyone is welcome! (Enter through the parking lot side door!)

When we update and properly maintain our facility it allows us to do more ministry longer.
