Vision

I heard a saying years ago that went like this, "any dead fish can float downstream."

When you start to live for Christ you realize that He isn't going with the flow. Jesus isn't going with the current. He is swimming upstream.

The world is moving in one direction which involves greed, selfishiness, fear, lust, dishonesty, materialism, obsession, depression, hate and bitterness. You don't need to try to get swept up into that. It happens automatically. Your marriage will fall apart automatically. Your job will destroy your soul, automatically. Your depression and anxiety will consume you automatically. Your fiances, family, health, community, neighbourhood, etc. will all crumble automatically. Any dead fish can float downstream.

Christ wants something different for you. He wants life, and life to the full. But that doesn't come by following the current. It comes by swimming upstream.

You may be trying to follow Jesus and you are feeling opossed, feeling tired, feeling like, "why is this so hard?" That's because you are swimming against the current.

It's only the Salmon who go against the flow who get back home.

Opposition and struggle isn't a sign of weakness or failure. It is a sign that you might just be going against the tide.  It might just be a sign that you're alive.

Wins

1. We had three people get baptized this past weekend! Two of them weren't planning on it, but the Holy Spirit moved in them and they took that step of faith!

2. I am hearing about, having conversations with, and watching as people are learning, growing and actually making changes in their lives! There is a noticeable difference in their lives.

3. Likewise, I am noticing as people are making Small Groups and Sunday Worship a priority, and really leaning into the community that is being built there. There is incredible encouragement and vulnerablility being developed in these settings.
