Vision
Back in January, my wife lost her old iPhone. She had removed the security password to set it up for the kids to use. This left me quite concerned that someone would find it and have access to her account. We remotely set it to erase, but I was still pretty worried about it. Eventually I stopped obsessing over it, but it still bothered me that it was lost. Monday afternoon I was on my way to Truro to do a burial. I was a little better than halfway there when my van decided that it would throw a fit and leave me on the side of the road. Normally, a situation like this would have been incredibly stressful for me, like losing the phone, but on Monday it wasn't. I didn't make it to the burial, but I did manage to get towed back to Amherst. Still, I wasn't worked up about it. I felt quite comfortable saying, "God will take care of this." Then we had several people offer us a vehicle until the van was fixed. But, I had the van back by Tuesday noon, with a bill that was significantly lower than what I expected! It felt like God was saying, "See!? I told you! I see you. I'm really here." It felt great! Then a couple of hours later my wife video called me and said, "Look what I just found..." and she held up her old iPhone! Again, it was like God saying, "Don't miss this Evan! I see you. I've got everything managed. I'm really here." Then I got a random text message from another pastor, whom I haven't spoken with in months, saying, "Just wanted to acknowledge and encourage you today. May God richly bless you and your wonderful family." It was like God saying, "You should have no doubts now son. I see you. There is no way all these things happening at the same time is a coincidence. I'm really here, and I am taking care of everything." I want you to know it's ok that you don't have it all together. I don't. And God sees you. He loves you. He hasn't forgotten you, and He has everything managed. It's gonna be ok. |
Wins
1. New community connections are being made through some of our ministry departments, which is exciting to see happening again! 2. We held our Annual Church Business Meeting last night and not only are we thankful for how God has provided and worked over the past year, we are also excited to see what God does next! 3. I am really excited about how many of you are arriving at services and events early, and staying late, just to connect with each other! Fewer and fewer people are attending then running out the door! On that note, did you know there is an opportunity this Sunday after service to connect with others over lunch? There is a casual potluck lunch happening for anyone interested! |

When You Can't See...Finding Jesus in the Jewish Feasts - Sunday, May 14, 2023 The Feast of Dedication, or Hanukkah, is based on events that took place after the Old Testament was written, but before Jesus came. It happened during a time when God was not speaking to His people through prophets, and the Greeks were desecrated their holy grounds. It appeared that God had abandoned them. Yet, they knew they had to find a way to honour Him. Likewise, when we can't see God, we need to find a way to walk in faith. John 10:22-42 & 2 Cor 5:7 Salvation comes by faith, not by sight.
