Vision
Thanks for taking the time to read this newsletter. Please take a moment to read over the events that are listed below and consider the challenge I want to share with you today. Jesus says in Mark 8:36, "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?" What good is it if we have a good home, but are dead inside? What good is it if our kids are trained athletically, but aren't filled with the wisdom of God? What good is it if the community gets free candy, but they leave without any hope? What good is it if our families get everything they want, but spend eternity in hell? What good is it if we get to enjoy our hobbies, but then watch our neighbours die before they hear about Jesus? What good is it if we "keep the peace," but then let others ruin their lives? What good is it if we... forget how urgent the mission of Christ is? I know that's heavy. I know that seems overly dramatic, but it's not. These are the trades we often make, and we need to remember what Jesus said. We have work to do, and the past few weeks have shown us that no one is guaranteed tomorrow. Taking care of your family isn't bad, it's actually important, but not at the cost of letting them lose their souls. It's about first things first. As we live our lives, determine our priorities, and as we go into Trunk-or-Treat this weekend, remember what our mission is. We exist to help people follow Jesus. |
Wins
1. A board member emailed me this week to tell me that a person from our community told them how glad they were to see our church doing so much for kids! 2. Our leadership team is working on better alignment and clarity around our ministries and strategies. They won't settle for "good enough." 3. Our mid-week kids ministry, Konnect Play, has been hit-or-miss over the past couple years coming out of the pandemic, but it seems to finally be getting a rhythm and is consistently attended by kids that have no church home! |
