Vision
It is incredible to go away for a couple months and find out that the church thrived in my absence! It is a sign that what God is doing here in Amherst is His doing and not something manufactured by me. I have come back to the office and simply re-entered my work rythm without having to manage any disasters or panicking over issues. A BIG THANK YOU to Pastor Sheryl and Pastor Brad for taking the lead this Summer and allowing God to provide! You will want to make a note about our change to Small Groups this year. The change is, for the most part there aren't Small Groups this year. We are doing this for a few reasons. 1. Because our Small Group leaders need a break. The pressure that has been on them since the pandemic started has been immense, and they need time to recharge. 2. We as a church need to cover some material and spend more time in focused prayer. Thus, we will be shifting to a Wednesday Night Bible Study and Prayer event. 3. In order to make the Bible Study and Prayer Night a priority, we needed to cut back on some other initiatives we were running, so there is also no separate leadership/mentorship program happening this year. This Bible Study & Prayer Night will cover a number of subjects like how to study the Bible, how to defend your faith, how to share your faith, what we believe, etc. It will also allow significant time for us to pray together and listen for God's voice. I hope you can all make it to this study. Bring your teens to it. Parents with young kids who are getting ready for bed by Bible Study time, maybe there is a way for one parent to attend one week and the other to attend the next. One way or another, we are investing heavily into this program and hope you will too. |
Wins
1. Pastor Evan is back from his sabbatical! Yes, some of you may think, "was he gone?" or, "we'd rather have Brad and Sheryl running things!" but alas for the rest of you, Evan being back is a win! 2. Our participation in the Amherst Canada Day celebration was well received and it was great to provide some free activities for people to enjoy! 3. Konnect Camp saw kids lock into the content and program more consistently and deeper than in previous years! Especially after our Sunday Celebration! 4. The roof is finished, and the loan came through so we could pay the bill! 5. We had a great visit from a couple new Missionaries this Summer and are excited to build our connection with them! 6. Four kids decided to follow Jesus at Konnect Camp! 7. A number of the Teens stepped up during the Summer to serve in different ways, showing maturity and passion for Christ! 8. Our Leaders are becoming more and more comfortable leading, hearing the Spirit, delegating, and preparing for what comes next! |
