Vision
Isn't it amazing how when something bad happens, we can't help but live in the future, living the future pain and consequences over and over in our heads. Then, when there is something good, we can't help but forget about it and get stuck in the hard moment. Why is that? Are we simply hardwired to focus on the negative so that we can be best prepared and survive? I think this is natural, but not designed. I think this is a product of our sin nature, and a result of the schemes of our enemy. Satan wants to rob us of hope and joy and peace. I think we do ourselve a disservice when we accept hopelessness. It is not what we were designed for. It is not what God intended for us. It is not what God made a way to give us. It is not the Way of Jesus. It is not our lives anymore. We are not children of hopelessness, we are children of the LIVING JESUS, the physical embodiment of peace and joy and victory and hope. The enemy wants to steal your hope. But that hope has been hard fought for by Jesus. He paid for it. He owns it, and He has given it to you. If your life is in Jesus, that hope is yours. Your life is now a life of hope. The enemy wants to take that from you. Don't let him. We are the peolpe of hope. We are the people of Jesus. Hang on to Him, and hope. |
Wins
1. We held a physically distanced Work Day on Saturday, and despite the challenges and the complications of the pandemic, WORK GOT DONE! Big thanks to everyone that was able to make it out and help. 2. I met with the LBA (Local Board of Administration) to discuss a number of things including our proposed budget for the new year. I was inspired by their wisdom, faith, and clarity. 3. I had a conversation with someone in our church a couple days ago and had to note just how much they have been paying attention and growing in the past few years. They mentioned how church isn't about the pastor or what you get out of it, but about what we believe and who we worship, and how a word that was shared by one of our lay-leaders had really impacted her! |

The Need for RestMental Health Checkup - Sunday, May 16, 2021 When we get tired due to scheduling, intensity and chaos we are left injured and broken. Like after a good workout, we need time to recover before we can do anymore lifting. God knew that rest was needed for us to grow and even just exist, so He set in place the Sabbath. And when we look at how the Sabbath was practiced and what Jesus understood about it's purpose we see that we still need rest today. Luke 13:10-16 & Exodus 16:28-29 The point of practicing consistent moments of rest is restoration and healing. For more infomation visit: http://amherstwesleyan.com/media/2021-05-16-the-need-for-rest

At AWC
Online Services Only We are doing only Online Services for May 2 & 9, due to the present COVID restrictions in NS. No on-site services until restrictions change. We hope you can join us online at 10:30am this Sunday! Senior Volunteers Our May Seniors events have been cancelled. We hope to launch events when COVID cases decrease. Sharon Taylor has stepped up to lead the effort to minister to and reach the seniors of our community, and she is hard at work developing ideas, putting events together and recruiting a team of leaders! We still need lots of volunteers though, especially to run events. We need all sorts of volunteers to serve in lots of different ways. If you're willing to serve, reach out to Sharon at 902-669-1330 (Mobile) and let her know! |
