Vision
Well, this is all pretty... dramatic! I do my best to keep up-to-date on what the restrictions and plans are for NS so I can personally plan, so we can plan as a church, and so I can help you all navigate the constant changing and complex situation we are in. Today, I'm not sure I can clarify much. I imagine this is one of those moments we will look back on and go, "Remember that time the government of NS took the intitiative to tell us all that the border with NB would open, held to that story for a week and then at the last minute changed their plans and the MLA of Cumberland North got so frustrated that she organized a protest to block the double-lane? Yeah... what a time to be alive!" I'm not going to say whether a protest like this is right or wrong or if the new rules are right or wrong. What I'd like to give you today though is some perspective. You and your neighbours have a right to be angry. NS jumped the gun in telling everyone the border would be open when they weren't actually committed to that. You and your neighbours have a right to be frustrated. The highway is now blocked, goods aren't being delivered and travelling for work may be impossible. You and your neighbours have a right to be concerned. COVID is still a very real concern, but so is mental illness, caring for loved ones, and all other health issues. You and your neighbours have a right to protest and vent and complain to your governmental representatives and officials. It is very difficult to tell what is politics, what is science and what is misunderstanding. And as representatives of Jesus we must express these things in ways that honour Him. Public slander, hate, bitterness, violence, gossip, name-calling and disrespect is not of Jesus. Jesus often stood up for the weak and helpless, and had some blunt and harsh truth for those around Him, and even that He did with love and grace. Jesus also put the needs of others before His, every time. We must remember the needs of others. We must show respect and grace. We must speak the truth, share our opinions, stand up for what we believe. We must love our enemies and do good to those who hate and hurt us. We must avoid the temptations of Satan to use sin for the sake of righteousness. These are crazy and complicated times. Hang in there and follow Jesus. He, and only He, will get us through this. Do what He says, His way, and victory we don't need to be ashamed of will be His. |
Wins
1. I've had really great meetings with both groups from AWC and Westchester lately, and am not only impressed by their insight, wisdom and character, but encouraged by their spiritual maturity! 2. Pastor Sheryl continues to recover, they have been able to get their vehicle repaired, and she is scheduled to be back preaching on July 4th! 3. I am seeing more evidence of the Holy Spirit crushing the footholds of the enemy. I see this in conversations I have with others, in attitudes, and in my own spirit as I feel Satan losing authority over our town and county. |

At AWC
Online Services & Re-Opening Plan We are doing only Online Services for June 20 & 27, due to the present COVID restrictions in NS. We hope you can join us online at 10:30am this Sunday! We should be back to In-Person services at 9:30am and 11am in Amherst and 2pm in Westchester on Sunday July 4th. Senior Volunteers We hope to launch events when COVID cases decrease. Sharon Taylor has stepped up to lead the effort to minister to and reach the seniors of our community, and she is hard at work developing ideas, putting events together and recruiting a team of leaders! We still need lots of volunteers though, especially to run events. We need all sorts of volunteers to serve in lots of different ways. If you're willing to serve, reach out to Sharon at 902-669-1330 (Mobile) and let her know! |
